Our Capacity Building Program

Needs Assessment

Conduct a thorough needs assessment in the target countries to identify the specific gaps in healthcare infrastructure and professional training related to cleft treatment. This assessment will help tailor the capacity building strategy to meet the specific needs for each country.

Collaborative Partnerships

Forge strong partnerships with local governments, health ministries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and healthcare institutions in the target countries. Collaborating with local stakeholders, we ensure that the capacity building strategy aligns with existing healthcare initiatives and can leverage local resources and expertise.

Training Curriculum Development

Design a comprehensive and a hands-on training curriculum for cleft treatment. The curriculum will be tailored to the local context and take into consideration the limited resources available in the target countries.

Training of Trainers (ToT)

Identify and select experienced cleft treatment professionals from the cohorts to undergo Training of Trainers. These master trainers will be responsible for cascading their knowledge and skills to other local healthcare professionals.

Local Professional Training

Conduct training workshops, seminars, and hands-on mentoring sessions for local healthcare professionals, including: patient mobilizers, nutritionists, surgeons, nurses, anesthetists, speech therapists, and social workers. The training sessions should focus on building technical expertise and promoting best practices in cleft treatment.

Community Outreach and Awareness

Develop community outreach programs to raise awareness about cleft conditions, debunk myths and showcase available treatments, and the importance of early intervention. This will encourage patients and their families to seek treatment and improve the program's access to patients in remote area.

Infrastructure Strengthening

Support local hospitals and healthcare facilities with necessary surgical instruments, monitoring equipment’s, medical supplies, and post-operative care resources. This will enhance the capacity of these institutions to provide safe and quality cleft treatment even after the program's intervention.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Establish a robust monitoring and evaluation system to assess the impact of the capacity building strategy. Regular evaluations will help identify strengths and weaknesses, enabling adjustments and improvements to the training program.

Mentorship and Continued Support

Provide ongoing mentorship and support to trained professionals to enhance their confidence and capabilities in providing cleft treatment. Regular follow-ups, telemedicine consultations, and knowledge-sharing platforms that foster a sense of continuous learning and growth.

Empowerment for Program Sustainability

Gradually transition program management and leadership roles to trained local professionals as they gain expertise and experience. This empowerment will ensure the long-term sustainability of the cleft program and its continued impact on the community.
